Kanavaranta's Restaurants In Katajanokka

The historic redbrick warehouses beneath Uspenski Cathedral in Katajanokka, just across the canal from the Market Square, are a great setting for enjoying fine food and drinks by the sea. Alongside the award-winning restaurant Nokka and the coffee-lovers’ paradise Johan & Nyström, three new restaurants have opened at Kanavaranta this summer.

Alongside Löyly, Holiday is the most talked about new restaurant in Helsinki right now. Opened in May by Ville Relander and Richard McCormick, who also run The Cock in Kasarmitori, Holiday is a restaurant and bar in which Asian, Hawaiian and Mediterranean influences are combined in the menu and in the interior décor. The large terrace has over a hundred seats, which quickly fill up on sunny days and warm evenings. Table reservations are recommended.

Le Petit Chaperon Rouge

At Le Petit Chaperon Rouge you can sit back in style and enjoy tapas, wines, champagnes, craft beers, ciders and coffees inside or on the terrace. The name of the restaurant and its logo were inspired by the small red dog Hilkka owned by restaurateur Marleena Niveri.

The third new restaurant at Kanavaranta this year is Sköne, which has quickly found its clientele among local residents in Katajanokka. Sköne is a casual restaurants where you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer, as well as acoustic live music on occasion. You can also watch sports. The terrace is a great place to soak up the evening sun.
