Helsinki is unique in the sense that you can quickly get to a place of perfect silence from the city centre. The forests of Paloheinä offer an amazing get-away from hectic everyday life. The areas of Paloheinä and Haltiala can be explored for instance along the Haltiavuori Luontopolku and Metsäpolku nature trails.
Paloheinä Hiking Lodge
You can reach the island of Lonna in just seven minutes from the Market Square. Try the waffles on a quick visit, or a full meal at the restaurant with more time. Swans are nesting right at the docks, so please respect the environment when visiting.
The best fine dining in the city, and the first Michelin-awarded restaurant in Helsinki. The star was awarded in 2007, with no gap years.
NB! Restaurant Demo is closed in July.
TÄHTITORNINMÄKI - OBSERVATORY HILL
My neighbourhood park is one of the best picnic spots in the whole city.
THE OLD SKIFFER BAR & RESTAURANT
Skiffer at Viiskulma is a great place after a rowdy weekend. Pizzas and a laid-back mood in a historical building. They also serve brunch on Sundays.
