PICNIC IN KAIVOPUISTO
One of the best things to do is to go have a picnic somewhere – on the rocks by the sea in Kaivopuisto, or on a hill with the view at Tähtitorninmäki. You're allowed to sit on the grass and rocks anywhere, and a picnic doesn't need great preparation – just great company.
Bike around summer Helsinki in the night. On a warm night, you get your own city to bike through. Avoid roads, stick to bike paths and the shore sidewalks. You can rent a citybike :)
Second-hand shops for those with imagination! Helsinki has great second-hand shops all over – my favourites are in Punavuori and Kallio. Punavuoren Patina and Fida, as well as the outdoor flea market in Hietalahti square in the summertime!
LITTLE BISTROS AND RESTAURANTS
FOREST HIKE AND COFFEE OUTDOORS
The beautiful national parks in Sipoo and Nuuksio are about an hour’s bus ride away, but you can also go urban style – take a metro to Kulosaari and walk to the seaside! Make sure to bring at least a pulla with you from a bakery, and maybe enjoy skinny dipping too!
