Petra Majander is the marketing director of Helsinki Design Week - the biggest festival of design in the Nordic region, celebrated every year in September. Petra has lived in several Helsinki districts: Töölö, Kallio, Katajanokka, Alppila, Munkkivuori, Puistola, Heikinlaakso, Meilahti and Oulunkylä. She loves morning dips in outdoor swimming pools, evening walks by the shores and biking along the city lanes.
The next Helsinki Design Week is held 1-11 September 2016.
The sea, the sweet little summer cottages and the small, winding paths shift thoughts away from everyday worries. The beach at Kivinokka, the outdoor cinema in August, the donuts at Maija's little kiosk and scary encounters with bats are a part of my summer. In autumn, Kivinokka is a prime spot for observing the sea and its thousand shades of grey, lighting candles and reading a book.
VINTAGE KIOSK IN KÄPYLÄ
The best coffee and lemon sorbet in town, served with a relaxed twist. There is always a familiar face around, and the flea market days are a must for great finds.
KAISANIEMI BOTANIC GARDEN
The yard of the Botanic Garden is a beautiful and perfect spot for a nap under the sky. The Palm House was opened in 1896, with a green atmosphere and a water lily pond that moves to tears, allowing to drown in your own dreams.
