Matti Pikkujämsä's 30-minute portraits
Matti Pikkujämsä is Helsinki's tactful counterpart to the Central European street artists, inviting to sit in his chair for a quick portrait of yourself. Pikkujämsä's mobile atelier travels from gallery to design shop or a cafe, producing half-hour portraits of citizens.
The style of the portraits is illustrative and kind. Everyone can choose the bright background that they like the best. So far, Pikkujämsä has made portraits of a wide array of Helsinkians: young, old, adults, children, families, engaged couples, pets, babies, graduates, as well as tourists.
Illustrator and graphic designer by profession, Pikkujämsä has designed prints for Finnish textile brands such as Samuji, Lapuan Kankurit, Marimekko and Kauniste. When Pikkujämsä is not busy with commissioned work or portraits, you can most likely find him drawing the surrounding urban life in downtown cafes, or maybe at the Yrjönkatu swimming hall.
The next appearance of Atelier Matti Pikkujämsä takes place at the Lapuan Kankurit shop in the Tori Quarters on 20 August 2016. Keep track of updates on upcoming portrait sessions on his Facebook page
