The Day of the Dead, traditionally celebrated between the 1st and 2nd of November, part of UNESCO’s intangible world heritage, Mexicans and Centro-Americans families set up spectacular altars in memory of loved ones who have passed away. All family members are part of this commemoration. Loved objects, food and drinks will be placed on the altar, as souls are believed to return to visit from the world of the dead.

From October 26th until November 6th, Kulttuurikeskus Ninho will set up a traditional Altar the Dia de Muertos on the 2nd floor of Annantalo. Come and see the traditional colourful altar. A small memory of a dead loved one can be left in a work of art.

On October 29th is a Family day, an event providing program for families and is recommended for children of all ages. The program includes dramatized guided visits, Children Book Fair, and the workshop "Decorate your own Mr. Lopez Calaca". You can come dressed in the spirit of the Día de Muertos theme.

Día de Muertos at Annantalo is a production by Kulttuurikeskus Ninho with the support of TAIKE and in cooperation with of Mexican Embassy and Selkokulttuuri ry.
