Rainmakers: Drum Set for the Rain & Rain, Sleet and Snow

Hiekkarannantie 9, 00100 Helsinki
Hietsun Paviljonki

Rainmakers celebrates rain through sonic and visual art works

Rainmakers celebrates rain through sonic and visual art works. The project includes an exhibition and a participatory Rainmaking event. The exhibition consists of two installation pieces and videos related to the works.

The Drum set for the Rain by Tuula Närhinen pays
homage to summer rain. The work is put together of tin cans and recycled umbrellas. Sateentekijät (Vettä, räntää ja lunta), a composition by Tytti Arola, consists of three movements each dedicated to a different kind of downpour. The score of the composition is displayed as a silent installation which includes three music stands with gloves, stopwatches and cyanotype contact prints of rain, sleet and snow.

The event is a part of Uniarts Helsinki’s fourth
Research Pavilion, taking place in Hietsun Paviljonki and its surroundings in
Helsinki 5.6.-29.8.2021.
