ASTRID SWAN

Singer-songwriter Astrid Swan released her seventh studio album “D/other” on 8 October and now starts touring the new album. The concert hall tour will visit five cities in November 2021–January 2022. Advance tickets are available from the ticket office of each concert venue.

Astrid Swan is a Finnish songwriter, performer and author. In her career spanning over 15 years so far, she has released six solo albums and numerous collaborations with other artists. The artist’s work has also been widely noticed abroad, and her albums have been released not only in Finland, but also in the United States, England, Germany and other Nordic countries.

According to Swan, the new album “D/other” deals with issues such as motherhood, personal relationships and grief. In a review by the prestigious British music magazine Mojo, the album was praised for its excellence and the uniquely interesting way in which it deals with its themes. Swan’s ability to articulate difficult emotions and bring them out in cinematic music is exceptional, and this skill is perfectly expressed by the new album.

Swan draws from the American singer-songwriter tradition and the past and present of pop music, weaving influences from her living environment in the northern hemisphere into her compositions.

AKKAJEE

From the rotten roots of Finnish folk tradition rise echoes of danger and ecstasy. Two wild women stamp their feet on the muddy ground with a blood-cooling howl, and the strings play like there is no tomorrow. A child’s cry from afar opens the gate to the afterlife – the landscape flickers and twists, everything is noise.

During their history of more than ten years, Akkajee have performed on a variety of stages both in Finland and abroad. The band’s second album “Lastenkerääjä” was released in spring 2021 and has received praising reviews both in Finland and internationally.
