The Egmont Overture has all the utterly Beethovenian elements: a heroic freedom fighter, an unerringly robust architecture and a portentous theme that nevertheless leads ultimately to ecstatic optimism.
His love for Beethoven is what led Jouni Kaipainen to become a composer. His second Symphony meant a lot to Kaipainen and was his favourite child.
