Chamber Orchestra Avanti!: From idyll to catastrophe

Avanti! grand climate concert will take its place in in Cable Factory in October. The program, which comments on climate change and is compiled around the theme, starts from an idyll and moves towards a catastrophe. Avanti’s large symphony orchestra will take the stage, conducted by József Hárs – featuring baritone Tommi Hakala and Otaniemen Kaiku choir led by Tapani Länsiö. The concert will also feature interesting speeches by Mikael Fortelius, professor emeritus of evolutionary paleontology at the University of Helsinki, and Hannele Korhonen, research professor at the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

Tommi Hakala has collaborated with numerous conductors and performed significant roles in domestic and foreign opera productions and actively performed concerts around the world. In the concert, Hakala interprets two recitatives and an aria from Joseph Haydn’s oratorio, The Creation.

Ambitious and multi-talented male choir Otaniemi Kaiku performs Albert W. Ketelbey’s orchestral piece In Monastery Garden together with Avanti!. Other composers of the concert include e.g. Sibelius, Adams, Skrjabin and Scielsi.
