István Rácz (1908-1998) - Unveiling of the memorial plaque and opening of the photographic exhibition In memory of István Rácz, photographer and translator of Kalevala
The memorial plaque to István Rácz (1908-1998), photographer and translator of Kalevala, will be unveiled on the 25th anniversary of his death, at the entrance to the Liszt Institute.
At the unveiling ceremony, the Hungarian Ambassador Klára Breuer, Executive Director of the Finnish-Hungarian Society Botond Vereb-Dér and Chairman of the Finnish Heritage Association Ilmari Rostila, will give speeches. The commemorative plaque was designed and sculpted by the sculptor Virág Szabó.
The unveiling ceremony will be followed by the opening of a photographic exhibition of Rácz's photographs at the Liszt Institute's Gallery U. The exhibition will be opened by curator István Kecskeméti, PhD, and Prof. Géza Szilvay, a close friend of Rácz. The music will be performed by Réka Szilvay and Atilla Kopecky.
The event will conclude with personal reminiscences from friends who knew and appreciated Rácz.
