The Hungarian Philharmonic Orchestra (Filharmónia Magyarország) has for many years been organising with great success the Night of the Organ in Hungary, which this year will go international: on 18 May, in almost 30 countries, on four continents from South Korea to Finland and the United States, a series of organ concerts will draw attention to the organ, the "queen of instruments".
In Helsinki, the series of events will include a concert by Hungarian Péter Marosvár, organist of the Oulu Cathedral in Kallio Church.
The programme includes works by J.S. Bach, Buxtehude and Liszt, as well as modern jazz preludes, and the premiere of Fanfare Ungarico by Hungarian composer Ádám Balázs - which will be performed at all concerts of the Night of the Organ, not just in Helsinki.
