Young poets and spoken word artists will take over Espa Stage at the Päivitä Leino event on Eino Leino’s Day, 6 July.
The afternoon includes performances by Francis North, Ester Nuori Leppä, Mikko Räty and the winner of the 2022 Eino Leino Prize who will be announced at Espa. The event is hosted by the poet Harri Hertell. The Päivitä Leino event is organised by the Eino Leinon Seura association. You are warmly welcome!
EINO LEINO PRIZE
The Eino Leino Prize is a literature prize that has been awarded since 1956, with the €5,200 prize sum donated by the Finnish Book Foundation. The winner of the 2022 prize will be announced at Espa Stage.
FRANCIS NORTH
Francis North is a Finnish-Brazilian spoken-word poet living in London. Writing mostly in English, North’s latest work, Entropy, is published in collaboration with Anna Blom. The book is a visual journey consisting of a long poem by Francis North and illustrated by Anna Blom.
ESTER NUORI LEPPÄ
Ester Nuori Leppä (birth name Essi Leppänen) is a Helsinki-based poet, rap artist and book printer whose first full-length poetry collection is called “Maanantai ja mustat hitit” (WSOY 2022).
MIKKO RÄTY
Mikko Räty is a poet whose texts describe the bumpy ride of human life. Räty’s first work, Borealia, will be published by Tammi in August 2022.

Harri Hertell is an award-winning Helsinki-based poet and member of the Eino Leinon Seura’s board.
