Patricia Kopatchinskaja & Il Giardino Armonico
At the Helsinki Music Centre, Kopatchinskaja will be accompanied by Il Giardino Armonico, one of the best baroque orchestras in Europe.
People don’t go to see Patricia Kopatchinskaja for her exceptional skill as a violinist alone; her performances are full of expressive energy and almost dance-like movements. Sometimes the artist performs barefoot, and she always puts her soul into her playing.
For the concert at the Helsinki Music Centre, Kopatchinskaja will be accompanied by Il Giardino Armonico, one of the best baroque orchestras in Europe, conducted by Giovanni Antonini. Kopatchinskaja and the orchestra will perform music by Vivaldi and contemporary Italian composers in turn, which they have also recorded together. The acclaimed music publication Gramophone said that the Vivaldi concertos on the album “are given electrifying, often extrovert performances”.
There’s a sense of fearlessness in the assembly’s performances. Kopatchinskaja is a risk-taker, and listeners themselves risk being caught up in the fierce playing that will characterise the concert.
