The Farewell, directed by Lulu Wang, is fun and touching family story based on a real life lie.

New York-based Chinese-American Billi gets an invitation to celebrate relative’s wedding in Changhun. Doctors have told that the family’s beloved matriarch grandmother Nai Nai has only few weeks to live. Due to Chinese tradition, the family has kept the illness a secret form the grandmother. The wedding is a good excuse to gather the family for the farewell.
