The composer duo Salonen & Stein create works that take their audiences on tonal picnics, where different dances, styles and motifs from the 1700s to the present day are weaved together into a multifaceted tapestry.

The composer duo Salonen & Stein create works that take their audiences on tonal picnics, where different dances, styles and motifs from the 1700s to the present day are weaved together into a multifaceted tapestry.

Their sources of inspiration range from Nordic folk dances and tango music to musicals and Japanese anime. The duo offers a colourful serving of works written collaboratively, as well as original compositions written by the two individual composers, all scored for soprano saxophone and piano.

Etno-Espa is an annual city festival that focuses on modern folk music. The festival presents what Finnish folk music and folk music made in Finland can be today. The festival takes place in Helsinki, on Espa outdoor stage and additional venues from 1st to 10th and 18t of August 2022.
