The exhibition iiris ≈ siiri addresses humanity, language and vision. The paintings raise questions about life's principles: How does a tree become a tree, how does a flower become a flower? How and when did I become myself? What does free will or individuality mean, when eyes and brain are based on genes and the effects of the environment? People only see what their eyes are able to see. The world is transmitted and coloured for people through their eyes and bodies, that have been molded by the life that has been lived. The origin of a painting resembles human’s circular existence and the traces of life are realized in them through a similar process.
Language provides a figure for concepts and the relations between them. Exhibition of paintings is actually a new language; new words and a new weird syntax that must be tamed by the author and the viewer.
