Etno-Espa is an annual city festival that focuses on modern folk music.

Susanna Leppänen & Vallitseva tilanne (“Status quo”) is a program of Leppänen’s music which has been born within the confines of the status quo.

Her music moves along the paths of traditional poetry landscapes, threats of the everyday, the ridiculous in life, and the inevitable death.

Susanna Leppänen & Vallitseva tilanne is mix of world music, death gospel and whimsical accordion action. The Kanteletar and other sources of folk poetry have inspired Leppänen to compose not only stories about birds, but also songs about the different shades of death. The ensemble’s album Ptitsi Pajut was chosen as the 2022 folk music album of the year.
