Fanny and Felix were equally talented children of a cultured family, receiving similar education. However, Fanny's chances of having her works published during her time were minimal compared to her brother, who was celebrated as a top talent in German music. Philip Glass is one of the most prolific and influential American composers of the 20th century. He dedicated his third String Quartet to the Japanese writer Yukio Mishima, whose radical life shook the conventional norms, and the quality of his work led to a Nobel Prize nomination.
The Carducci Quartet is one of the most successful string quartets in the United Kingdom. Formed in 1997, the ensemble has won numerous international competitions, including the Kuhmo Chamber Music Competition in 2004. The quartet's extensive repertoire spans from traditional string quartets to contemporary and film music.
