UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra feat. Nina Mya – Searching My Soul

Kasarmikatu 46-48, 00130 Helsinki
Savoy Theatre

September 30th seems to be an auspicious date for UMO and Nina Mya. Our last live concert together was on that date in 2020, and we are thrilled to be performing together again this year on the exact same date. Even though an entire year has passed between these live events, we have been busy behind the scenes creating new music together.

Something else that is auspicious in the relationship between Nina Mya and UMO is the synergy created when Nina’s wonderful original compositions are reimagined for jazz orchestra by Ed Partyka. These arrangements were written and recorded this Spring in our studio at the Cable Factory, and even though the LP will not be released until next year, fans will have the opportunity to hear this exciting new music performed live for the first time at the Savoy Theatre on September 30th.

Nina Mya is a rewarded Finnish jazz and soul singer, composer and vocal teacher. She has published four albums as a band leader: Flying Solo (2012), Our Time (2014), Closure (2016) and Just Another Lonely Soul (2021). She has performed all around the world in big arenas, festivals and clubs. Besides of her own band she has performed and recorded also as a featuring artist with many big names in the music industry, such as Frank McComb, Tia Fuller, Iiro Rantala and Jukkis Uotila. Nina Mya has a dark, technically impressive voice and she is a soulful and strong interpreter who combines jazz, soul and gospel influences in a unique way.
