This line-up is a showcase of musical virtuosity combined with acrobatic and gently improvised choreographies, based on folk dance.
Masters of partner dance and its traditional improvisations, Arttu Peltoniemi and Jari Haavisto created their 20-minute work Liekeissä (“On fire”), inspired by accordionist Johanna Juhola’s compositions.
The team was completed by Veera Kuisma, one of the most original folk musicians and composers of the younger generation. The group explores new visual and narrative perspectives within the traditional male partner dance idiom, through a range of movement languages associated with folk dance.
