Classically stylish menswear

Designed in Helsinki and made in the Baltics, Frenn is a sustainable Nordic menswear brand that offers an alternative to those who want to dress smart but without stiff suits. This spring, Frenn joined forces with footwear brand Sain Vacant and outdoor clothing brand Sasta, so if you purchase a product by one of the brands, you get another product by one of the other brands free of charge. Many other premium Finnish fashion brands have since joined in, including Arela, Kasperi, Terhi Pölkki ja Hálo from North.

Durable clothing from recycled fibres

From the way they look, you would never imagine that the fashion by Pure Waste is created from fibres enjoying their second life. This brand uses excess textiles that are made into new threads and fabrics. Compared to clothing made from brand-new materials, this method reduces the use of water by 90 percent. Pure Waste is a respected textile producer that also supplies many other local brands, such as Mainio. Pure Waste’s own clothing includes high-quality and timeless t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants and hoodies.

Shipyard spirit for a short summer

Originally inspired by the stark cranes of Helsinki's shipyards, the Makia clothing brand has been inspired this summer by the Havis Amanda statue and camping. The statue depicts a maiden – known as “Manta” among locals – surrounded by seals and is traditionally the centre of attention during the May Day festivities, when she is capped by students, but this spring she was off limits. Nevertheless, the statue is topical in that it symbolises the rebirth of Helsinki rising from the sea. Makia and Ivana Helsinki have teamed up to create two women's collections: Manta and Campground. The latter has been inspired by the time when Makia's head designer Jesse Hyväri worked at Ivana Helsinki as an intern. It turned out that he shared an interest in nature and local tourism Ivana Helsinki’s founder, Paola Suhonen. Each collection is equally topical this summer!
