Join the Ainola Quartet for an intimate evening of thrilling chamber music that traverses fiery intensity, delicate lyricism, and soul-stirring beauty. This thoughtfully curated program brings together timeless masterpieces and lesser-known treasures, inviting the audience on a 200 year journey of storytelling through sound.

The concert opens with Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 10, 3rd movement—a searing, concentrated outpouring of emotion packed into seven minutes of dark intensity. The mood then shifts with Joaquín Turina’s La Oración del Torero, a lush and impressionistic gem that evokes the quiet fervor of a toreador’s prayer.

In Schubert’s iconic “Death and the Maiden” Quartet, the first movement erupts with drama and haunting urgency, offering a visceral confrontation with mortality where terror and beauty intertwine.

The second half celebrates Finnish lyricism in Erkki Melartin’s String Quartet No. 4 in F major, a sweeping, seldom-heard work that the Ainola Quartet is excited to share, showcasing both its grandeur and intimacy.

The program closes with Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte, a contemporary reimagining of classical texture that is at once delicate, playful, and profound.
