Nov 20, 2025 | 7:00 pm
Kasarmikatu 46-48, 00130 Helsinki
Anssi Tikanmäki was one of the most significant composers of our time for ensembles, theatre and films alike. After Tikanmäki’s passing in 2024, his musical legacy and orchestra are now carried on by his sons Eljas and Eemil Tikanmäki. Anssi Tikanmäki In Memoriam: Maisemakuvia Suomesta concerts bring Anssi’s compositions to life in concert halls in November and December 2025.
The repertoire of the concerts includes the complete material from Tikanmäki’s legendary themed instrumental album Maisemakuvia Suomesta, which is the highest-selling album in Finland in its own class. The concerts will feature songs such as Lapin tunturit, Aamu lakeuksilla and Kiutaköngäs. The programme also includes familiar songs from Kaurismäki’s films, including Tikanmäki’s adaptation of Finlandia for the film The Worthless. The songs and the whole concert experience are complemented by impressive visual video material.
Anssi Tikanmäki has composed music for the musical Täällä pohjantähden alla, Kaurismäki films The Worthless, Juha, The Clan and Master Cheng, and the film Juice directed by Teppo Airaksinen. He also adapted songs for the bands Juice Leskinen Grand Slam and Yö, among many others.
This will be an emotional and memorable evening, with Anssi Tikanmäki’s remarkable compositions performed live by a five-piece orchestra in one of the most magnificent concert halls in Finland.
