At the Roots: Arto Pajukallio – Free Mondays
Mar 31, 2025 | 6:00 pm
Klaneettitie 5, 00420 Helsinki
Start your week with some catchy tunes! In this spring’s At the Roots Club series, guest musician Arto Pajukallio takes the stage at the café.
Arto Pajukallio has mainly worked as a journalist but has had a second career as a musician with Freud Marx Engels & Jung, among others.
“I’m not a lead singer or guitarist, and I’m jumping right into the deep end of my discomfort zone by joining the At the Roots Club band as their guest. But I feel like it’s totally my duty to showcase lesser-known Finnish roots music by different artists, maybe even myself. So let’s take a time-travelling musical journey through some songs that many of us don’t even know to request.”
The pulsating heart of everyone’s favourite Monday night club is made of jazz, blues, country, folk, rhythm and blues, bluegrass and Americana roots music. As usual, the club hosts are Juki Välipakka and The Rooty Toot Toot Band.
The Rooty Toot Toot Band:
Juki Välipakka – vocals & guitar
Lasse Sirkko – bass
Tommi Lievemaa – guitar
Olli Haavisto – pedal steel guitar
Sirpa Suomalainen – saxophone
Kepa Kettunen – drums
Duration: 1 hour
