Pepe Ahlqvist, one of the top blues musicians in Europe, is an internationally known and respected blues musician. Successful recordings made over a career spanning nearly fifty years, as well as more than 6,000 gigs over the years, have ensured steady popularity throughout the years.
Pepe Ahlqvist was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Finnish Blues Awards even in Helsinki on 14 January 2017. The winners of the Finnish Blues Awards are selected among influencers in the music industry. More than 300 musicians, gig organisers, journalists and other active people from all over Finland participate in the process. Pepe was rewarded for a career that spans five decades. In recent years, Pepe has also done a gig with his son Joel.
Joel Ahlqvist is a guitarist, singer-songwriter and harmonica player born in 1997. Joel initially studied classical guitar and continued his studies at the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory. Jussu Pöyhönen is best known for his over 30-year career as a frontman for the band Suurlähettiläät. The band, which has won Emma and sold several gold and platinum albums, has a number of classic songs (e.g. Elokuu 11., Pitääxunaina?, Kuka pysäyttäisi kellot?, Maailman laidalla, Kun Tänään Lähden and Mitä miehen tulee olla?), and Jussu has also made three solo albums, the latest of which was Pinnalla, published in spring 2023 (Sonymusic Finland), from which songs played on the radio include Pinnalla, Sydämessä Matkustaja and Ootko Siinä Vielä Sitten Kun, which received its touching premiere on MTV3’s Laulu Rakkaudelle programme in February 2023.
At the Savoy Theatre, Jussu will perform with his own band. The repertoire includes many Suurlähettiläät favourites as well as the most interesting new songs.
