Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma

Mannerheiminaukio 2, 00100 Helsinki

Dafna Maimon’s (b. 1982) works are often performative and cinematic. She takes a gently humorous view of the protagonists of her works, who are not just rational actors, but guided by their emotions.

Besides three video installations, the exhibition features a large number of drawings and paintings. One of the installations has been produced specifically for the Kiasma exhibition. Also as part of this, Maimon is creating a participatory musical to be performed in Kiasma Theatre.

Maimon frequently collaborates closely with a variety of communities. For instance, her works investigate social norms and the structures of consumer society, which she portrays with exaggeration and humour. In doing this, she suggests ways for individuals to regain control of their lives.

Maimon is born in Porvoo and lives in Berlin.
