Drops of Light exhibition in the Finlandia Gallery in Pikku-Finlandia 2.5.-2.6.

“Material orientation is the initial letter of my artistic work. I look for materials for my works that are both visually interesting and related to my theme in terms of content. In my recent work, I have mainly used various everyday plastic waste, for example plastic packaging, from which I have tried to build visually and content-interesting constructions. I look for what is worthless and classified as waste and strive to recreate something valuable from it.

My work is slow and meditative in nature. I often assemble my works from delicate and fragile parts that, with delicate joints, just barely stay together. In my recent works, I have reflected a lot on the fragility of life, both from the perspective of the individual and from the perspective of our entire planet. “-Johanna Virtanen
