Duncan Robertson: Power Play

Mar 5 – 9, 2025

Tallberginkatu 1 C, 00180 Helsinki

For the exhibition at MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre, Duncan Robertson will present a new performance and video installation.

Power Play utilises various forms of performative alienation as ways to explore intimacy. Everyday items and encounters such as business clothing and pop music are utilised as tools to explore contemporary understandings of the self through ‘work’ in its various forms.

For the exhibition at MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre, Duncan Robertson will present a new performance and video installation exploring the coded rituals and language surrounding contemporary forms of work. Taking three settings as starting points – the meeting, the interview and the office party – three performers will deconstruct the verbal and non-verbal language codes present in these three scenarios.

The exhibition is part of an ongoing collaboration between the LAPS Master’s programme and MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre / Artists’ Association MUU, which includes collaborative workshops, discussions and presentations of LAPS Master’s theses, performances and exhibitions.
