Eight Ways to Hear
Apr 23 – 25, 2025
Lapinlahdenpolku 8, 00180 Helsinki
Eight Ways to Hear brings together a diverse group of emerging sound artists, each offering a distinct perspective on how we engage with sound as a medium.
From the layered resonances of history to the intimate textures of voice and field recordings, these works explore the many ways listening can shape our understanding of place, memory, and identity.
The artists—working across various disciplines of performance, technology, music, and fine art—invite us into a world of sonic witnessing, silent thresholds, and deep listening.
Some pieces are in direct dialogue with the exhibit’s location, revealing its layered histories through sound. Others explore personal and collective experiences of silence, liminality, and shifting presence through time.
Eight Ways to Hear does not define a singular approach to sound but instead builds a space for multiplicity. It reminds that listening is as varied as those who engage in it.
