Heidi Kilpeläinen: Help! You Need Somebody
Mar 28, 2025 | 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Tallberginkatu 1 C, 00180 Helsinki
For one lively March afternoon the Cable Factory is transformed into a bustling festival ground of artistic and humane kinship as the Help! You Need Somebody event – a creation of interdisciplinary artist Heidi Kilpeläinen – takes over MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre.
Organised in collaboration with ARMAS Festival – a two-week national art and culture festival that celebrates ageing – the event combines the best sides of playful fun and far-reaching reflection. In addition to an exhibition of Kilpeläinen’s multimedia works, festival-goers of any age are invited to enjoy some karaoke along with their coffee, attend a t-shirt workshop or just party on!
For the evening’s panel discussion, visual artists Jyri Pitkänen and Minna Suoniemi join Kilpeläinen to share thoughts and experiences on caregiving for ageing parents, both as themes in their artistic work and actual family caregiver practice.
A newly completed iteration of Kilpeläinen’s video work Metanoia (2023) – now screened as a cinematic, single-channel version – forms the core of the show and event.
And lastly, to complete the festival day, we’ll round out the fun with some more song and dance at the finissage party!
