Forest Home – Natural Forests in Helsinki

Jun 5, 2025 – Apr 5, 2026

Natural History Museum

Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 13, 00100 Helsinki

Photographic artists Ritva Kovalainen and Sanni Seppo explore the rich life of natural forests in the Forest Home exhibition – from diverse habitats and life forms to the ongoing loss of forest ecosystems and biodiversity.

In Forest Home, the forest is presented as an ecological whole – and as a foundation for life. The exhibition makes extensive use of scientific collections, highlighting lesser-known but ecologically important indicator species of natural forests. Due to intensive forestry practices, many formerly common species have become irreplaceable treasures.

Forest Home brings together visual art, scientific insight and environmental reflection – and is designed to resonate with visitors of all ages.
