Jonas Karén: I Have Always Loved Science Fiction & Kaisa Huotari: The Hiding Places of Dawn and Dusk
Jan 9 – 31, 2026
Suomenlinna C 1, 00190 Helsinki
In his exhibition “I Have Always Loved Science Fiction” (Hall 1) Jonas Karén presents a series of new paintings that explore his feelings. In the exhibition text, the artist explains that he first painted at the age of 25 as part of his therapy.
Kaisa Huotari’s “The Hiding Places of Dawn and Dusk” exhibition (Hall 2) features paintings with frames that Huotari has built decorative opening hatches into. The paintings form a symbolic depiction of a hiding place where the gaze and awareness would otherwise seldom rest. At the same time, they serve as a reminder that, although life around us is very fragile and essentially transient, we can use images to remind each other of the uniqueness, dignity, and significance of life in its details.
