Kholod Hawash: Veil

Jun 6 – 28, 2025

Kaikukatu 4, 00530 Helsinki

This exhibition focuses on women’s freedom in the East and the world in general.

The Veil exhibition fights against oppression and persecution through gentle means, using social references and symbols. In the East, for example, taking off your veil, exposing your hair or cutting your hair are powerful but simultaneously gentle protests – especially against the authority of men and religion. However, this is not easy, as the violent and bloody oppressive power of the clergy is rooted in the sanctity of their rule.

“In my art, I want to talk about the role of women both in Iraq and in Finland.”
