Together with Chef Kivimäki, Micke Björklöf and Lefty Leppänen form one of the most interesting acoustic blues and roots bands in Europe today.
The trio Micke & Lefty feat. Chef has entertained and won over audiences with their energetic performances in small clubs and large festivals across Europe. The band has been dubbed the most entertaining blues & roots band in Finland, combining a high level of musical professionalism with the role of entertainer.
These three multi-instrumentalists have created a band characterised not only by their acoustic instruments and strong soloist skills, but also by three-part vocal harmonies that are not so typical of the blues. Their original and authentic blues sound is topped off by Lefty Leppänen’s world-class virtuosity on slide guitar, suitcase drum kit, custom-built acoustic bass, and gritty harmonica.
This spring, the band celebrates its 25th anniversary with a series of concerts around the country. In store is a lively celebration of a quarter-century career. The band will release a live album to celebrate their anniversary. The band’s latest studio album, Let The Fire Lead, was an internationally acclaimed success and reached many international radio playlists.
The trio has represented Finland at the world’s largest blues event, the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA and the European Blues Challenge in Berlin, Germany.
“Originality is Micke & Lefty feat. Chef’s ultimate trump card. They combine their unique expression with high-quality composition and musicianship. In live settings, the humour and obvious joy of creating complete the whole package, which certainly stands out in international comparisons” – Blues Finland
