Director Q&A & Film Screening – Mihály Schwechtje: A Hunt For Hedgehogs

Film director Mihály Schwechtje will attend the Haihara Artist Residency in Tampere in May. As part of his visit, audiences in Helsinki will also have the opportunity to get to know Schwechtje and his latest film A Hunt For Hedgehogs (Sünvadászat, 2025), which premiered in February. 

Mihály Schwechtje is a Hungarian film and theatre director as well as a university lecturer. In 2020, he received the Contemporary Hungarian Drama Award (Kortárs Magyar Dráma-díj). 

His recent works address pressing social issues through personal stories. Schwechtje previously visited Finland in 2021, when he was invited to the Tampere Film Festival. His debut feature Hope You’ll Die Next Time (Remélem legközelebb sikerül meghalnod, 2018) was both a critical and audience success.
