Singer-songwriter Nikolai Blad from Mäntsälä plays with Ikiranka-trio songs from their Kansalainen Lehtinen -album.

In the songs on his sixth album Blad develops his surreal visions further, but they also contain descriptions of vulnerability and fleeting moments, as well as one Christmas song (White Deer). Slavic blues stories also contain humor and absurd twists.

Nikolai admits his debt to V. Vysotsky as a songwriter, and one of his cover songs, “Valhe ja totuus”, ended up on the album. “Vysotsky interpretations have been well received at my gigs, so I had to include one”, explains Nikolai. 

“Ikiranka’s playing brings depth, soundscapes and even sparkling lightness to my songs”, Nikolai enthuses and continues: “Those musicians have shown great flexibility, the ability to transform and complement my songs”.
