The fictional film Parvet is based on real-life situations and creates space for stories that are not heard.

How do people from different backgrounds experience being part of or excluded from society? The multi-story film takes an honest look at the structures we are part of. The film is directed by Hannaleena Hauru and Katja Gauriloff, who are part of the new wave of Finnish filmmakers and have multiple Jussi nominations. The movie was produced using communal methods.

The lead actors developed their own characters throughout the film’s production, and some of the characters are based on personal experiences. It was created through a unique process involving a team of 70 people, selected via open applications, who had a say in the film’s content and production methods. It aimed to develop dramaturgical tools that would benefit people from underrepresented groups in Finland.
