Kaikukatu 4, 00530 Helsinki

Queer feminist choir music from folk songs to Eurovision entries – HQFK and FroDo sing from the fringe with love and attitude.

Helsingin Queer-feministinen kuoro (the queer feminist choir of Helsinki) performs old and new choir music from folk songs to Eurovision entries and original compositions and lyrics by choir members, always with a queer feminist twist. The choir was started in the middle of the pandemic, and it had its first chance to perform in November 2021 as a compact but loud octet. The choir currently has 25 singers!

HQFK is conducted by Kirsi Marttinen, a long-time amateur musician who has studied choir conducting. HQFK is her third choir.

The Friends of Dorothy (FroDo) is a queer a cappella human rights singing group from Helsinki founded in 2018.
FroDo’s repertoire spans from folk songs performed in minority languages to art music and Eurovision pop.
FroDo sings loud and proud from the fringes of society.
FroDo’s attitude can be described as lyrical punk.

FroDo are:
Salla Markkanen, soprano
Petriikka Pohjanheimo, alto
Kim Gustafsson, tenor
Mikko Rantonen, tenor
Aleksi Vasko, bass

Duration: approx. 1.5 hours, intermission
