Riitta Kilpi: The Summer Has Come To Town

May 27 – Jun 29, 2025

Galleria Pirkko-Liisa Topelius

Hietalahdenranta 17, 00180 Helsinki

The paintings sum up on the thematic of sea, water and beneath it’s surface, archipelago and it’s landscapes.

The sea, the water beneath it’s surface, the Finnish archipelago, sailing over the course of decades in those landscapes. In the background, in concerts, music on the radio is playing, melodies and a song piece, while painting.

The impression of the experienced, it conveyes inexorable influence of the atmosphere of the sea and the imprint of music. In the paintings, the thematic is largely independent of any planned intention, there for listening to the inner voice and working with impulsive methods allows for something unique, exceptional, and fascinating to emerge.
