Sara Manninen: Dusk

In Sara Manninen’s exhibition Dusk, the works waver at the edge of twilight. Memories, dreamlike visions, and physical reality merge and create new worlds where familiarity blends with a sense of strangeness. The exhibition features photograph-based printmaking works, hand-printed on paper.

The visual worlds of the works refer to real events, but it is impossible to see beyond them. The actual moments are unreachable, yet imaginable. The exhibition depicts memories as combinations of memory traces and imagination, as stories to which an individual’s identity is linked. 

Printmaking and photography serve as recorders of presence, bringing something from the past to the present in an eerie manner.
