The joint Museum Day of Suomenlinna’s museums is celebrated annually on Gustavus Day, June 6. Museums are open from 11.00 to 20.00, with free admission all day.

Museum Day Programme:
Suomenlinna Museum:
13.00 & 14.00 Introduction to the temporary exhibition The Cellar of the Sea
A representative from the John Nurminen Foundation presents the exhibition and discusses the Baltic Sea.
Ehrensvärd Museum:
12.00 & 14.00 Miss Blomcreutz’s house tours (in Finnish) – approx. 30 min
Explore the museum and experience the lifestyle of 18th-century Finnish nobility. Learn about fashion, etiquette, the minuet dance, and the secret language of fans.
Military Museum:
New miniature exhibitions for the summer:
– Between Two Homes, about Finnish war children
– Victory is Ours, a Soviet war propaganda poster exhibition
Free guided tours and family-friendly activities throughout the day.
Guided tours at the Manege:
- 12:.00 Finland at War 1939–1945 (30 min, in English)
- 14.00 Human Fates in War (30 min)
- 18.00 Finland in War (30 min)
- 19.00 The Lapland War (30 min) – 80th anniversary of the war’s end
Guided tours at the Artillery Manege:
- 2:30 PM Between Two Homes – intro (15 min)
- 3:00 PM Changed by War (30 min)
- 5:00 PM Victory is Ours – intro to Soviet propaganda (15 min)
Summer colouring & paper doll workshop at the Artillery Manege:
Colour summery images or create your own paper doll with clothes and accessories.
Submarine Vesikko:
13.00 Submarine course for children
What was it like to serve on a submarine in the 1930s? Learn through play – participants earn a diploma!
All-day activity: The Wild Vesikko Pups:
Mama Vesikko has lost her colourful pups in the museum – help find them! Bring them to the ticket counter for a prize. (One prize per visitor.)
Customs Museum:
Programme to be confirmed – the museum and exhibitions are open all day.
Suomenlinna Adventure Trail Characters on Site:
12.00–14.00 & 15.00-17.00
Miss Blomcreutz and Matti Matinpoika Mattila will be roaming the fortress and museums, guiding visitors and sharing stories.
