Can you hear someone say peekaboo? Is someone hiding, can you see?

Piilossa (hide and seek) is a participatory performance with play and exploration of hiding with Tyyppä in a multisensory ‘nest’ full of surprises. The performance contains some speech, mostly in Tyyppä’s imaginary language, and plenty of improvisation and spontaneous interaction with the audience characteristic of clownery.

The idea for the performance was born in a lecture on the different ways children express pain. Mäki-Iso, who also works as a hospital clown, was left wondering what it may mean when children hide. The familiar game of hide and seek may, in fact, be connected to many aspects of human life; the feeling of safety, being found after being separated, the joy of surprises and the opportunity to hide from unpleasant things.

Director and clown Taina Mäki-Iso plays Tyyppä and scenographer Heini Granberg is in charge of the set and costumes. They have written the performance together.
