The Carousel of Life – Roma Youth Photography

May 8 – Jun 5, 2025

Kaisaniemenkatu 10, 00100 Helsinki

The exhibition The Carousel of Life offers a unique opportunity to discover the life and culture of Roma youth from their own perspective, recorded through photographs.

The photos were taken at the internationally renowned Gandhi High School photography club in Pécs, Hungary, whose students have won several awards. The photographs offer a glimpse into the daily lives, experiences and rich cultural heritage of young people.

Gandhi High School was founded in 1992 in Pécs and is the only Roma high school in Central Europe. Its aim is not only to provide high quality education, but also to preserve and develop Roma culture. The school also supports young people in their social integration and in pursuing higher education. Gandhi High School has been nurturing talented new generations for over 30 years.
