Come hear about the Estonian fishermen of the Helsinki archipelago in this lecture by non-fiction author Eero Haapanen.

In the early 19th century, many Estonians would move to Villinki and Vartiosaari, also establishing fishing villages on the nearby small islands of Kivisaari, Villasaari, Pihlajaluoto and Leikosaari. Some fishermen became famous smugglers, sportsmen and members of their local sea rescue association.
