Cultural Centre Malmitalo welcomes the recently arrived international residents to Helsinki!

In this event new residents will get to know the services, hobbies and other leisure time activities available to them in their neighborhoods.

In addition to providing useful information, the Welcome Day program includes fun, inspiring and communal activities for people of all ages. The program culminates in a high-energy concert by Suistamo Sähkö.

We speak English at Welcome Day. Additionally, interpreters will be present at the event. The event is free to attend, but sign-ups are required. Advance registration will commence in August.

Traditional Finnish “pulla” (pastries) and coffee will also be served.

Suistamon Sähkö

Suistamon Sähkö gains momentum gig by gig and cheerfully moves through ethno techno and smoke shack sounds to the world of hip hop like the genre hybrid they are. The group favours a boisterous rave atmosphere, synthesizer buzz, rap declarations and a Soviet-made accordion and makes the audience jiggle and the cottage floor shake. The Suistamon Sähkö rhythm universe is a rambunctious mix of primitive primordial force and experimental dance music.
