SunJazz: Re-LifeTime "The music of Tony Williams Lifetime"

Re-Lifetime plays the music of Tony Williams Lifetime at Tenho Restobar in March.
In the late 60’s, Tony Williams Lifetime burst upon the scene with two groundbreaking LPs, Emergency and Turn it Over. The harmonic and rhythmical sophistication of three top jazz musicians of their time, combined with the energy and anarchy of rock, created the foundation for a new genre, fusion. Tony Williams, the godfather of a new school of rhythm, changed the role of the drums forever. Later on, fusion became a four-letter word spoken with derision, but in it’s original incubation, Lifetime offered a lifeline for jazz to a younger audience, thrilling it with unpredictability and excitement.
Re-Lifetime was formed out of the simple joy of playing that music, giving all three musicians a chance to unleash their most uninhibited energies with delight and a healthy dose of sweat.
