Lion dance tradition from Senegal.

Lion dance tradition from Senegal.

Simb is a tradition combining dance, music and theatre from Senegal. The Simb event consists of dancers in lion costumes and musicians accompanying them with sabar drums, whose task is to lure, tame and guide the lions with their music. The lions are unpredictable and there is a thin line between the performers and audience. You will get to enjoy amazing sabar dance and rhythms – not to be found anywhere else in Finland!

Malick Ndiaye (Senegal/Finland) will bring the Gaïnde Ndiaye - Simb lion dance tradition from Senegal in the middle of the City of Helsinki.
