ARS22 brings together international contemporary art and the public in a space dedicated to shared experiences and community.
ARS 22 – Living Encounters showcases the most notable contemporary artists and artworks of the moment. The show features works by 55 artists or groups from more than 20 countries. One particular focus of the exhibition is performative and live artworks that take place in different parts of the museum and in Kiasma Theatre.
Commenced in 1961, the ARS exhibition series has traditionally addressed the pressing issues of the day. Live Encounters is the first in the series that also includes works from previous ARS exhibitions. The tenth ARS exhibition, ARS22 is a polyphonic compendium of different generations, genders, geographical locations, narrative traditions, cultures and their encounters, presented through stories and performances by the featured artists. ARS22 gives the audience a chance to question power structures while imagining alternative futures.
