Boy from Heaven – Kino Helios

This political thriller was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. In the movie, Adam (Tawfeek Barhom), the son of a fisherman, accepts an offer to study at Al-Azhar University, a traditional centre of Islamic learning.

As the school’s leader dies suddenly, the position of Grand Imam becomes available, which leads to a bloody political battle between professors of differing ideologies. Adam ends up in the middle of a life-threatening conspiracy as Ibrahim (Fares Fares), a detective investigating the professors, hires an unwilling Adam as his informant. As a pawn in the power struggle, Adam has to define not just his own, but the entire university’s fate.
